李培根:男,汉族,1948年12月生,湖北武汉人,机械制造及自动化专家,中国工程院院士,华中科技大学教授、博士生导师,华中科技大学原校长,中国机械工程学会荣誉理事长,中华人民共和国教育部机械工程教学指导委员会主任委员,河南省机械装备智能制造重点实验室学术委员会主任委员。曾先后担任教育部机械工程学科教学指导委员会主任委员、中国高等教育学会第六届理事会副会长、国家高技术研究发展计划(863计划)CIMS专家组成员、机器人专家组成员。1977年1月获得上海纺织工学院机械制造专业学士学位;1977年3月至1978年8月任武汉轻工机械厂技术员;1981年3月获得华中工学院机械制造专业硕士学位;1981年3月至1983年8月任华中工学院机一系助教;1987年1月获得美国威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校机械工程专业博士学位;1987年至1991年历任华中工学院讲师、副教授;1991年至1995年任华中理工大学机械学院教授;1995年任华中科技大学教授、博士生导师;1995年至2002年任华中理工大学机械学院院长;2003年当选为中国工程院院士;2005年至2014年任华中科技大学校长。长期从事机械制造及其自动化领域的教学科研工作,是我国制造业信息化方面的知名专家。主持研发的CAPP(计算机辅助工艺规划)系统经与企业合作,已形成国内具有自主版权的CAPP主导产品。排名第1获得国家教学成果奖二等奖2项、国家科技进步二等奖、中国高校科技进步一等奖和教育部自然科学一等奖各1项。主持国家级项目17项,发表科技论文百余篇,出版专著3部。重视工程教育及其改革,坚持以学生为中心的教学理念。1997年,获得国家人事部、教育部共同颁发的“优秀留学回国人员奖”;2001年,获湖北省政府颁发的“杰出专业技术人才奖”;2003年,获中共中央组织部等6部委联合颁发的“留学回国人员成就奖”;2025年,获2024年度湖北省科学技术突出贡献奖。2003年当选为中国工程院院士。
Li Peigen: Male, Han ethnicity, born in December 1948, from Wuhan, Hubei. He is an expert in mechanical manufacturing and automation, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a professor and doctoral advisor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), the former president of HUST, the honorary chairman of the China Mechanical Engineering Society, the chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education of China, and the chairman of the Academic Committee of the Henan Key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing of Mechanical Equipment. He has served as the chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Discipline Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, vice president of the sixth council of the China Association of Higher Education, and a member of the CIMS and robotics expert groups under the National High Technology Research and Development Program (863 Program). In January 1977, he earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical manufacturing from Shanghai Textile Institute of Technology; from March 1977 to August 1978, he worked as a technician at Wuhan Light Industry Machinery Factory; in March 1981, he received a master's degree in mechanical manufacturing from Huazhong Institute of Technology; from March 1981 to August 1983, he was an assistant lecturer at the first department of mechanical engineering at Huazhong Institute of Technology; in January 1987, he earned a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, USA; from 1987 to 1991, he served as a lecturer and associate professor at Huazhong Institute of Technology; from 1991 to 1995, he was a professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology; in 1995, he became a professor and doctoral advisor at HUST; from 1995 to 2002, he served as dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering at HUST; in 2003, he was elected a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; from 2005 to 2014, he was president of HUST. He has long been engaged in teaching and research in mechanical manufacturing and automation and is a well-known expert in the informatization of China's manufacturing industry. The CAPP (Computer-Aided Process Planning) system he led has been developed in collaboration with enterprises and has become a CAPP-leading product with independent copyright in China. He ranked first in winning two second-class National Teaching Achievement Awards, one second-class National Science and Technology Progress Award, one first-class China University Science and Technology Progress Award, and one first-class Ministry of Education Natural Science Award. He has led 17 national projects, published over 100 scientific papers, and authored three monographs. He values engineering education and its reform and adheres to a student-centered teaching philosophy. In 1997, he received the "Outstanding Returned Overseas Scholar Award" jointly issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Education; in 2001, he received the "Outstanding Professional and Technical Talent Award" from the Hubei Provincial Government; in 2003, he received the "Returned Overseas Scholar Achievement Award" jointly issued by six departments including the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee; in 2025, he received the 2024 Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award. In 2003, he was elected a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
